I love old bird cages. I thought about collecting them for a while and found one really great deco 1930's cage, and then never really pursued a collection. I think a cluster of different hanging bird cages looks so pretty, don't you think so too? On several occasions, people would come over and see the cage and wonder where the bird was. I don't think you really need a bird for your cages, just look at the Erte' paper doll above! Bird, or no bird, I still enjoy all of these pretty images.
This wonderful Chanel birdcage pendant was inspired by a little golden birdcage object d'art that Mme. Chanel had on her end table in her gorgeous Rue Cambon apartment. The birdcage and it's brilliant hues inspired a holiday makeup collection as well as a very famous Coco perfume commercial featuring Vanessa Paradis as a bird swinging in her gilded birdcage.
