I think what I'm trying to say is that I would like a pen pal. People don't write letters anymore, and I miss them. Email is easy, but I long for an actual envelope and stamp. It's a bit more personal, don't you think? Remember the days when you bought nice stationery and actually received things other than horrible adult bills and the occasional pretty catalog or magazine in the mail? I miss those days. I liked looking at peoples penmanship and paper choices and doodles. If you were really lucky, the letters might have a faint trace of candy scented or violet scented ink or glittery scribes that sparkled. These days even a postcard seems like an awful lot of work to send out. I know letter writing will probably never come back into fashion, but if it does, I can't wait to buy some fancy letter-pressed loveliness to send to you!
Speaking of letter-pressed loveliness, check out fabulous Thunderwing Press. I know this will inspire an interest in all things postal.
And don't even get me started on actual phones you plug into the wall and call from. I have a rotary phone here at home that I love (and for a while, a land line - gasp!) and hope to use it again someday (or make a GaGa inspired hat out of my phone, if nothing else). Communication seems to lack all of it's glamour these days. Bah.
